La Porte County Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys and Cops Are Corrupt Selfish Servents
Catching Public Officials Preying on La Porte Citizens
Bob “Z” Szilagyi
La Porte County, Indiana, has a character problem when it comes to its public servants – primarily those in the legal and criminal law profession.
Before becoming La Porte County Prosecutor, Bob “Z” Szilagyi, had a private practice in La Porte County and also served for eight years as city attorney for La Porte. (But it’s only a matter of time before those in power abuse their power. Bob Szilagyi is no exception to this rule.) Crooked Szilagyi, being a flawed and ruthless citizen was never interested in selfless service, just power and money. He sought out power for the love of power, and abused his power simply because he could. Crooked Szilagyi, I’m certain, has abused his positions of trust to benefit him, his family, and his friends much more often than we will ever know, but at least we have some solid evidence of his lack of character and dishonesty going forward.
In December 2010, after becoming La Porte County’s Prosecutor, Szilagyi decided to break the law by forging the names of his ex-wife and secretary on a quiteclaim deed on his marital home. He was caught red-handed, but instead of being charged with a crime, he only received a paltry 60 day suspension from the practice of law, with an automatic reinstatement courtesy of the Indiana Supreme Court. Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission Executive Secretary G. Michael Witte recommended in writing that disciplinary action be taken against Szilagyi. Indiana Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathryn Dolan said the disciplinary commission examines complaints of attorney misconduct.
Had it been a working class poor person the result would have been jail time in La Porte’s lockup. “As part of the divorce, he got the whole thing,” Szilagyi’s ex-wife retorted, referring to the house, adding “All he had to do was ask me to sign it and I would have. He forged my name … it was pretty unethical of him.” Szilagyi said, “I regret that I let my judgment be clouded by emotions. I accept responsibility for my actions.”
After a hearing, the Supreme Court Justices found Crooked Szilagyi violated Indiana Professional Conduct Rules 8.4(c), by engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation; and 8.4(d), engaging in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice. Of course, per the usual practice for La Porte’s elite, Crooked Szilagyi won’t face criminal prosecution or civil suit for money damages. Instead, he gets punished for his high crimes with a slap on the wrist. Costs of the proceeding were assessed against him.
In Yet Another Twist
Robert D. Neary
The Indiana Supreme Court, in filed documents order-discipline-2012-46S00-1204-DI-217(1) named Robert D. Neary to serve as interim La Porte County prosecutor beginning Aug. 1, when prosecutor Robert C. Szilagyi started serving a 60-day suspension for forgery. And you know what happened next. Creepy Neary, in conspiracy with the La Porte police, committed brazen and shameful acts of attorney misconduct by, among other things, eavesdropping on confidential attorney-client communications with fellow cops! These dishonorable guardians of our rights listened in on private attorney-client conversations in order to get convictions that would withstand the best appeals. The disciplinary decision included a 4-year suspension from the practice of law, without automatic reinstatement.
